Frequently Asked Questions
What happens during an evaluation?
Your evaluation is individualized to you. We'll talk about:
- What's been difficult
- What has changed since pregnancy or birth
- Your symptoms and concerns
- Your daily activities
- Your routines
- Your responsibilities and roles
- Your environment
- Your goals
Depending on your needs, the evaluation may also include observation or assessment of posture, movement, functional mobility, strength, coordination, and other relevant physical factors. We'll then discuss the findings and determine appropriate next steps.
Do I need to know what's wrong before I book?
No, you don't need to know exactly what's wrong or have a diagnosis before reaching out. That's part of what the evaluation is for, which will give us the chance to collaborate on your care together.
We'll determine whether occupational therapy is appropriate for your concerns and goals. If another provider would be a better fit, I'll gladly help guide you toward the appropriate next step.
Do I need to be newly postpartum?
No, matrescence is a transition, not a specific 6 week window. Depending on your needs, I may be able to support you during pregnancy, early postpartum, later postpartum, or as you continue navigating the changes of motherhood. Every woman has a different, unique journey through this time period.
If you're unsure whether your concern is something I can help with, start with a free 15-minute phone consultation.
What if you can't treat my concern?
Part of good clinical care is knowing when another provider is the better fit. If your needs fall outside my scope, training, or the services I provide, I'll gladly help direct you toward the appropriate healthcare professional or community resource.
What can occupational therapy help me with after having a baby?
Postpartum occupational therapy may help with:
- Returning to everyday activities
- Movement and exercise
- Core and pelvic health
- Baby-care activities
- Feeding and positioning
- Carrying and lifting
- Energy management
- Establishing sustainable routines
- Returning to work
- Reconnecting with meaningful activities
Your care will be individualized to your needs and goals.
Do you work with women during pregnancy?
Yes. Pregnancy can affect how you move, sleep, work, exercise, and complete everyday activities. I can help you prepare for those changes and develop practical strategies for your body, routines, environment, and upcoming infant-care responsibilities.
Do you treat pelvic floor concerns?
I provide services with a women's and pelvic health focus. Depending on your concerns, care may address how your pelvic health is affecting movement, exercise, toileting, self-care, work, intimacy, and other meaningful activities.
Your evaluation will help determine whether occupational therapy is appropriate for your needs. When additional or different specialty care is indicated, I will gladly refer or coordinate with the appropriate provider.
Do you perform internal pelvic floor assessments?
Internal pelvic floor assessment is not automatically part of every initial evaluation. If an internal assessment is clinically appropriate, within my scope and training, and you choose to proceed, it will be discussed with you beforehand and requires your informed consent. You will never be required to undergo an internal examination to receive care.
Where do you provide care?
I provide in-person services in the St. Augustine, Jacksonville, and Northeast Florida area. In-home care may be available depending on location and service.
An outpatient clinic location is planned for early 2027.
Do you offer virtual / Telehealth appointments?
Because telehealth requirements can vary based on your location, service, and clinical needs, eligibility may be confirmed before your appointment.
What does an evaluation cost?
The initial evaluation is $125.
What do follow-up visits cost?
Following sessions are $75.
Do you accept insurance?
I am currently private pay. However, I am actively in the process of getting credentialed with different insurance companies. If you would like to use insurance, please reach out with further questions so I may update you on where I am at in the process with your specific insurance company.
Do you provide superbills?
Yes. Superbills are available for private-pay clients upon request. You may submit a superbill to your insurance company to request potential out-of-network reimbursement.
Reimbursement is not guaranteed and depends on your individual insurance plan.
Do I need a referral?
It depends on your insurance plan. If you are private pay, you do not need a referral.
What is your cancellation policy?
A $50 cancellation fee applies to appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice or missed appointments.
When will you have a dedicated office?
An outpatient clinic is planned for early 2027. For now, I often see women within their homes. If care calls for certain interventions, then I do have a room I rent out and see some women there. Options such as this are commonly discussed during the initial evaluation or the phone consultation.
